Everyone wants a website, but it’s easy to get sidetracked by colors, graphics, and fancy animations.

Most of those are worthless.

The first step to building any website is planning. You must know the goal of your website and have a plan to achieve it. Everything else must be created to support that goal.

To start your planning, ask these basic questions:

Who are you trying to reach?

What is your website’s goal? You must tailor the user’s experience toward achieving this goal.

When are they visiting your website? Keep the buyer’s journey in mind and create goals based on the stage you want to reach users at.

Where is your target located? This is especially important for local businesses.

Why would someone want to visit your website? What’s in it for them?
